Baba Deep Singh ji is one of the most revered martyrs of Sikh history. Throughout his life, he exemplified the saint soldier spirit of the Khalsa. He joined Guru Gobind Singh ji and then Baba Banda Singh Bahadur to fight several wars against the Mughals. When Ahmad Shah Abdali was returning to Kabul after enslaving hundreds of men and women from Hindustan, Baba Deep Singh ji rescued them in daring attacks on the Afghan army. He ultimately sacrificed his life at the age of seventy five when he mounted an attack to evict the Afghans from Harmandir Sahib, the holiest Sikh shrine, and restored it to the Sikhs.

Baba Deep Singh ji was a scholar of Sikh theology and many languages including Gurmukhi, Sanskrit, Persian and Arabic. He assisted Bhai Mani Singh ji in writing the pothi sahib (now called Guru Granth Sahib) when Guru Gobind Singh ji dictated it to them at Damdama sahib. Baba Deep Singh ji also set up three taksals (academies) to propagate Gurbani and the Sikh philosophy. These taksals continue to render invaluable service to this day.

These comics are just fantastic. They are a great way to get your young ones interested in the Sikh religion. The artwork is beautifully done and the stories are well told. I'm so glad I gave it a chance. A couple dollars (on Amazon.com) for all the work that was put into this is a steal!!!!

  5. A Must Have for the Entire Family 5 Star Review

Posted by  on 8th Feb 2012

I just received my copy of Baba Deep Singh ji comic and was happy to see such excellent craftsmanship in print and artwork. The layout flows and easy to read and it's excellent how there are citations from the Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji to go along with the different highlights of the story which we can also reflect on and apply to our lives today. Machines and gadgets may have changed, but mankind has the same woes and worries that only a full, selfless faith and commitment to Wahe Guru ji and one's Sikhi can uphold.

Am looking forward to reading Guru Tej Bahadur and the Battle of Saraghari.

Sikhcomics, continue your excellent work and may you get the support of Sikhs worldwide.

  6. Baba Deep Singh - looking forward to more titles by Sikh Comics 5 Star Review

Posted by  on 3rd Jan 2012

I read this comic book when it was first released and just finished reading it again. The artwork is great and the print quality is also very good. I would love to have a poster made from the front cover. The script covers many historical events including the Battle of Chamkaur, The Chali Mukte (40 liberated ones), composition of Zafarnama, mention of Kartarpur Bir and composition of the Guru Granth Sahib by Bhai Mani Singh dictated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the story of Banda Singh Bahadur, Mehtab Singh and Sukha Singh and abolishment of the Zamindari system. There are also many references to Gurbani that are mentioned in the script and add to the story line.

From page 39 ``All beings and creatures live by breating, but he (God) could keep us alive, even without the breath (Ang 144). If it pleases God, the body is preserved, even without the breath of life (Ang 277)``

Thank you Sikh Comics for this initiative. May God bless you with more seva and more similar works.
Dhan Dhan Baba Deep Singh Ji

  7. Just placed an order for more! 5 Star Review

    WaheGuru Ji Ka Khalsa
    WaheGuru Ji Ki Fateh!

I previously ordered the first two comics for my 3 children as bed time reading - Baba Deep Singh Ji & Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. I have since ordered the same as gifts for other Sikh families as they are a great medium kids can relate to and gain an enjoyable education in a rich martial Sikhi history. I've today also placed an order for the 3rd comic in the series which covers the heroic story of the Battle of Saragarhi.

These comics are of a high quality and very reasonably priced that there is no reason to not own them, whether you have children or not!

  8. Nothing short of brilliant 5 Star Review

Wow, the quality of the print and the books have far exceeded my expectations. So much so I've ordered more to give as gifts. These will become collectors items.

Only one minor criticism, when quoting from SGGSJ it references quotations by "Page xxx", I think the use of "Ang" is far better. Although I can understand why they have done this as it would make more sense to a non Sikh reader.

I look forward to future releases.

Keep up the good work Guru Kirpa

  13. Inspiring and educational 5 Star Review

Posted by  on 16th Jul 2011

It was great news when i heard about the launch, my mom told me alot of stories about babaji in childhood which gave curiousity to research more on this topic and that era was not digital no internet and no much communication. Comics were there but not much on Sikh topics or history. This comic when i first held had great feeling in terms of paper used. The graphics were really awesome, language was superb and also meaning taken from The Granth Sahib made it very educational. I'm continuously following SikhComics and waiting for more comics desperately. Great job done!
